X FACTOR star Martin Bashir found himself in the bottom three of the competition on Saturday night after he failed to impress viewers at home. However, he was saved by Simon Cowell and will perform once more tonight.
Last week’s X Factor: Celebrity saw Ricky Lake as the first star to be booted off the show quickly followed by Olivia Olson. Judges Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell were given the chance to save either Olivia or Martin and it was the journalist who remained in the competition. However, Martin is certain he won’s last much longer.
There was uproar last weekend when an upset Olivia was sent home by Simon despite impressing with her performance.
And it seems the journalist Martin agrees with many fans at home as he admitted Olivia should have been saved.
The 56-year-old explained he doesn’t think he’ll last much longer and was “upset” over the elimination.
“It was really difficult,” he said. “It was upsetting, she was clearly very, very upset.”
Martin added to the Evening Standard he thinks Olivia is an “incredible” and “kind” person.
“She’s also a fantastically talented vocalist,” he continued.
“To be perfectly honest, she should’ve gone through.”
Speaking at the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week, he added to the publication: “But we knew when we entered the competition, it wasn’t down to us.
“Simon Cowell made that decision. But I’m excited about going through.”
It’s not yet known what Martin will be singing this weekend but he teased it’s an American vocalist who “died about 10 years ago”.
Martin is currently the favourite to be booted off the X Factor tonight.
According to OddsMonkey, his odds of heading home have been cut to 4/9.
However, at the other end, Megan McKenna is the favourite to win this year’s series.
Her odds of winning have been slashed to 10/11 with Max and Harvey trailing behind at 8/1.
Megan wowed both viewers and judges with another original song on Saturday night but came under fire for her outfit choice.
Simon advised her to focus more on her music than on her clothing choices.
Despite this, OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “Meghan McKenna has been nothing short of sensational in the opening few weeks, not only performing brilliantly but showcasing some outstanding songs that she has written herself.
“Whilst the likes of Max and Harvey and rugby trio Try Star may have impressed, nobody looks capable of challenging Meghan at this point.
“And Martin Bashir looks like he could be about to start his final week on the show.”
