X FACTOR CELEBRITY returns tonight for its third week of live shows, as the various celebrity contestants battle it out to try and win a recording contract with Simon Cowell’s label. However, one act that was eliminated last weekend has spoken out about how she feels about her shock exit.
X Factor Celebrity has not been short of drama so far, as Martin Bashir survived the bottom two twice after being saved by the public vote. The result left viewers raging last weekend, as Jonny Labey was knocked out as Simon sent the vote to deadlock. Coronation Street star Victoria Ekanoye was also eliminated last weekend, and spoke this week about her exit.
The ex-Coronation Street actress had wowed viewers and judges in the audition process, with many fans dubbing her “the best singer” in the competition.
However, her time on the show came to a shock end last weekend, and she has spoken about her experience in the competition, noting that she had regrets over not performing an original song.
Speaking about her exit, she confessed that she is her “own worst critic” and believed she could have done things to improve her performance.
She told Metro.co.uk: “I’ve watched it back twice, once alone and once with all my friends and family – but they were watching me watch myself.
“I’m my own worst critic, so I’ll sit and find all the things I felt I could have done better, whereas they’ll sit and remind me that it’s a huge deal to even get up on that stage.
“I’d only just started to get my voice back so I should go easy on myself and be as proud as they are of me,” she continued.
Just days before her performance last weekend, it was reported that Victoria had been resting her voice after it had become strained.
Last weekend, the actress performed Why Don’t You Love Me? by Beyoncé, as Nicole Scherzinger told her that the performance would make Beyoncé say “wow.”
She had already proved popular with viewers, with many shocked that her time on the competition was over.
One viewer shared: “Absolutely shocked about Victoria and Johnny leaving The X Factor Celebrity 2019.
Another tweeted: “Just catching up on X Factor! Wow wow wow WHY has Victoria gone #XFactor #CelebrityXFactor.”
“Just catching up from last nights #xfactor who the f*** is voting? How on earth did Victoria go out! Mind blown,” agreed a third.
Victoria also admitted that she wished she had performed an original song, saying: “I’ve been writing music for a while now and if I’d had a crystal ball and known I was going to leave so soon, I think I would have taken a chance on doing something original.
“It was important to me to not get into the habit of doing a ballad every week, so I’m happy that I sang a fun, uptempo song and got to dance a little, but I would have loved to showcase my own artistry and creative ideas.”
Speaking about who she would see love to win the competition, she continued: “As for my front runner, it has to be Kevin [McHale], he ticks every single box.
“He can sing a ballad, he can put a twist on a current uptempo track, he’s cute as hell and he’s one of the most down to earth and level headed people I’ve met in a long time. He’s a good egg. Kevin for President!”
The Angie Appleton star was the first out of two contestants to be eliminated last week, as EastEnders star Jonny Labey departed the competition.
He ended up in the bottom two alongside broadcaster Martin Bashir, where the latter was ultimately saved as the vote went to deadlock.
Fans were less than pleased after Martin was saved for the second week in a row, after the first live show saw Olivia Olson booted out the competition in a shock exit.
Tonight, the X Factor Celebrity returns, as TOWIE star Megan McKenna remains the favourite to triumph in the competition, as she is at 1/2 odds to win, according to Ladbrokes.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s hard to see anyone stopping Megan and her odds are only shortening as we edge closer to the final.”
As the celebrities return again this weekend, who will manage to impress the judges and make it through to next weekend’s show?
