What is Treadstone on the USA Network about?
The new series is set in the Jason Bourne universe, which was the inspiration for a number of films starring Matt Damon.
These were based on the novels by Robert Ludlum which followed a CIA assassin who was suffering from dissociative amnesia and trying to work out who he is.
The new series on the USA Network was created by Tim Kring and is set in this world.
The show follows the origins of the CIA black ops program Operation Treadstone in the tense thriller.
According to the USA Network: “Treadstone explores the origin story and present-day actions of the infamous covert program that uses behaviour modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins.
“The first season of Treadstone follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions.”
The series follows the assassins as they find their memories erased, as well as their moral code, which leaves them able to kill targets around the world.
The show also takes place across two different time zones with Jeremy Irvine starring as John Randolph Bentley in 1973.
He plays one of the programme agents who is able to escape his Soviet captors.
Then the story also takes place in the present-day when the agents have been activated once again.
Actor Irvine spoke to Collider about this unique structure of the series.
He said: “The first few set up everyone’s storylines, and then certain episodes go back and forth in focusing on one or two of the storylines at a time.”
The actor also teased about some big twists in the upcoming episodes.
He added: “Well, until Episode 10, you really don’t know where it’s all gonna go, and there are some really good twists and turns, as well.”
