THE CHASE returned tonight for a special celebrity edition, as it featured 4 famous faces going against The Chaser in order to try and win some money for charity. Tonight, Piers Morgan was unimpressed with one of his co-stars as he disagreed with his decision.
The Chase featured GMB presenters Piers Morgan, Kate Garraway, Susanna Reid and Richard Arnold this evening, as they took on The Beast to try and take home the jackpot for their chosen charities. However, Richard Arnold had little success this evening as he was first up.
The presenter was the first to take on The Beast this evening, but unfortunately struggled in the head to head and failed to make it through to the Final Chase.
He managed an impressive seven correct questions in his cash builder this evening, and as he came face to face with Mark he made him 3 generous offers.
Alongside the £7,000 he won in his cash builder, Mark offered him a low offer of £2,000, along with a huge £55,000 high offer.
However, Richard shocked the rest of his team by going for the low offer despite the decent cash builder round.
“I’m going to go for the two, I want to get back there,” Richard told Bradley.
Piers Morgan immediately responded to his decision: “You gutless, snibbling little rat.”
Richard quickly hit back, saying: “Enough of the compliments!”
He joked “I’m trying to win more money!”
As Susanna and Kate also looked gobsmacked, Bradley Walsh reassured him by joking: “Come on now we’ve all had a drink!
Mark told him: “It’s absolutely the smart thing to do, more people in seat one should do this
He then appeared to make a dig at Piers, saying: “Leave it to the egomaniac in seat four to go for the big offer.”
As he started his head to head, it became clear that Richard was struggling.
As he got another question wrong, he said: “Of course, that’s why I went two grand!
Another failed answer about Jeremy Clarkson led Piers to ask: “Oh my God – what are you doing?”
Unfortunately Richard failed to answer a single question correctly against The Chaser, and was quickly knocked out.
“At least you get an early night for work in the morning,” joked Bradley.
However, later on, Piers also did the same, leading some viewers to notice it went against his earlier criticism of his co-star.
As Mark offered him “the largest amount” ever played for on the show, at £119,000, Piers decided to go for the lower offer of £1000.
Susanna warned Piers: “He’s playing to your massive ego”
One viewer shared: “Piers Morgan going for the lowest offer on The Chase really does sum him up #TheChase.”
#TheChase Anyone think Piers’ inflated ego will mean he will go for the higher offer. As much as a like him for balance with squealing Suzanna on GMB he needs to put a sock in it sometimes,” agreed another.
Mark then proceeded to making chicken noises to the delight of the audience and viewers.
Piers made it through to the Final Chase alongside Kate and Susanna, as they managed to get 17 steps ahead of The Chaser.
However, Mark caught the trio with 37 seconds to spare, meaning they lost their jackpot, but walked away with £1000 each for their chosen charities.
