SUSANNA REID is starring on a celebrity special of ITV quiz show The Chase, but why did the TV host split from ex-boyfriend and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish? The Good Morning Britain presenter has spoken out on her Strictly Come Dancing stint and the split.
Susanna Reid is perhaps best known for hosting ITV’s Good Morning Britain alongside Piers Morgan. Now the two presenters will take on the Chaser, as they star on a celebrity special of The Chase.
Joining them in their hopes to best the Chaser will be Richard Arnold and Kate Garroway – all in the aim of winning money for charity.
Susanna and Piers often poke fun at one another on GMB, and in April it was Piers who prompted Susanna to talk about her relationship live on TV.
Susanna had been dating Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish but the pair announced their split after nine months.
The couple had been first spotted in August 2018, and she was often seen accompanying him to Crystal Palace games.
On GMB Piers asked Susanna about her relationship status, saying: “Are you single again? You are aren’t you?”
Susanna replied: “Yep. Let’s not dwell. I’m fine, we’re fine, we’re very good friends. We were at the match on Saturday.”
The pair were spotted sitting next to one another at the Crystal Palace vs Everton match on Saturday, April 27.
Susanna tried to move the topic of conversation on to Piers, whose team Arsenal lost that weekend.
She said: “You had an interesting match over the weekend. In fact, you’ve had three.
“I know one of the things you’re most devastated with about my split is the fact you will no longer have access to the wine cellar.”
Piers asked whether Susanna revealed the news of her split to coincide with his return to GMB after his three-week Easter break.
Susanna joked the announcement was “all down to you”, before adding: “These things happen.”
The GMB host’s relationship with Steve had been her first public romance since she split from Dominic Cotton in 2014.
Dominic and Susanne have three children together; Sam, Jack and Finn Cotton.
The pair started dating in 1998 and despite the split are reportedly close friends.
At the time Susanna spoke of her break-up and how people believed her time on Strictly Come Dancing played a role.
However, she refuted this telling Fabulous magazine: “I think people think Strictly was bound up in what happened. It wasn’t.
“Obviously things have been challenging in my personal life but we are getting things sorted.
“We are still good friends and the kids come first.
“Strictly was, and will always be, an amazing sparkly ridiculous alternative reality planet I went on for a couple of months and I have great memories of it.
“Now it is all about Good Morning Britain.
“It is a good time to start something new, but I am still the same person.
“Things have just changed, as they do in everybody’s life.”
