Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Karim Zeroual’s ‘dancing is over the top’ critiques Craig

STRICTLY COME DANCING 2019 star Karim Zeroual is one of the hot favourites to become this year’s champion as he continues to excel on the dance floor. However, judge Craig Revel Horwood has given some quite straight-talking critique about the celebrity and it’s not all good.

Karim, 25, has been managed to top the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboards over the past seven weeks with his professional partner, Amy Dowden, 28. Although the hit BBC show judges have commended the celebrity on his efforts, awarding the pair with high ranking scores, Craig Revel Horwood, 54, has given his take on the CBBC presenter’s dancing ability.

This weekend, the couple performed an astounding Quickstep routine and were the highest scoring pair of the night.

They managed to surpass the efforts of bookmaker’s favourite to win Kelvin Fletcher, 35, who found himself in joint second position on Saturday night.

Whereas the majority of the panel awarded Karim with a 10, Craig was the only judge to give a nine which cut the presenter’s chances of getting a perfect result short.

Speaking with Radio Times, the Strictly stalwart gave his thoughts on this year’s contenders for the Glitterball trophy as he gave a very honest critique.

Detailing the amateur dancer’s greatest weaknesses, the judge said: “He over-attacks and over-exaggerates his movements.

“We don’t see that smooth, silky, oozy quality from him. He’s very punchy so I’d like to see a softer side to him.”

However, Craig also gave his verdict on what makes the children’s television presenter so likeable and what qualities land him the high scores.

Of Karim’s greatest strengths, he said: “His energy and his musicality. His sense of being able to work and lead a partnership is also great, and he’s flying high in the technical department.”

“He’s really good, and I love his dancing,” the panellist continued.

Known for giving his tough criticism of the celebrities, Craig explained how the final contender could improve even further.

“I would say that he lacks fluidity and his dancing is over the top,” the Strictly veteran commented.

“Never would I think that I’d ask someone to tone things down!”

“But he’s sometimes a little bit too sharp and energetic,” the musical theatre star critiqued.

So will the youngster take Craig’s advice on board and find himself in the final in a few weeks time?

According to the latest odds from Ladbrokes bookmakers, Karim is the one star hot on Kelvin’s heels for the crown.

The presenter stands at 7/2 to become champion with the soap star at 8/11.

LadbrokeS spokesperson Alex Apati said: “No one can get near Kelvin as far as the betting is concerned and it looks like the Emmerdale star will be claiming this year’s Glitterball Trophy.”

The latest celebrity to be eliminated from the competition was Viscountess Emma Weymouth, 33, and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 29.

Speaking of working with the regal star, the latter said: “I’m the only professional to have danced with an actual lady on Strictly Come Dancing.

“From day one in rehearsals, your dedication, to go from a non-performer, non-dancer, to achieve what you achieved on this show, I’m lucky it was me that taught you how to dance.

His dancing is over the top
