STRICTLY COME DANCING’S Karim Zeroual was left in tears after receiving criticism from the judges following a disappointing Viennese Waltz.
Karim Zeroual took to the floor with Amy Dowden to deliver an elegant Viennese Waltz to Ed Sheehan’s Give Me Love. However his nerves got the better of him and the CBBC presenter made a few mistakes that were picked up on by the judges. Following Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli’s criticism, Karim struggled to keep his emotions under wraps.
Critiquing his performance, Craig said: “You must be a bit disappointed actually I know because two rather large mistakes.
“Apart from the mistakes, there was too much rise and fall,” he continued. “It was very bumpy, I felt like you were doing chassis instead.”
Shirley added: “When you got in hold today you looked a little uncomfortable… the footwork wasn’t great.”
As he waited for his scores with Claudia, the Strictly host remarked: “You looked quite emotional getting those comments.”
Comforting her partner, Amy said: “I could see you were about to cry
Karim confirmed: “That was a hard one, I’m gutted it went wrong.”
“No it happens,” Claudia said. “And you said to me earlier it was your least favourite dance.”
“It was a tough one,” Karim admitted before wiping his eyes and adding: “Sorry, I don’t know why I’m getting upset.”
Amy remarked: “He’s upset and I’m just so proud of him, it’s his birthday next week and more than anything I want him to experience the magic of Blackpool.”
Turning to Karim, Claudia said: “Also you want to get Amy there because of course [Amy] won the British champions there so I think you’ve really been feeling the pressure.”
“Yeah I have but more importantly my biggest thing is doing a good performance that’s what I love to do,” Karim said.
“How ever long I’m in the competition is how ever long I’m in it.”
“I do want to get there obviously but for me going wrong is a no no,” he added.
Meanwhile Mike Bushell is the hot favourite to Waltz out of the competition and miss out on the coveted trip to Blackpool.
Bookmaker Coral have given him odds of 2/5 to be eliminated with Chris Ramsey close behind at 4/1.
“Mike Bushell has relied on the judges to survive over the last few weeks and our betting suggests his Strictly journey will come to an end this weekend, devastatingly just before Blackpool where everyone wants to perform on the Tower Ballroom,” said Coral’s John Hill.
On the other hand Kelvin Fletcher is the odds-on favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy at 8/11.
Coral have placed Karim Zeorual in second place with 3/1 and Emma Barton is the third favourite at 10/1.
John added: “Kelvin is the red-hot favourite in our outright betting where it would be a huge surprise now if he did not go on to win the series.”
Has Kelvin secured his spot as this year’s winner or could dark horse Karim walk away with the Glitterball Trophy?
