KATE MIDDLETON and Prince William refused to go on a summer holiday with Prince Charles last year – but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took up on the offer instead, unearthed reports reveal.
Prince Harry made a surprising statement during a recent interview, admitting he and his brother, Prince William, had drifted apart. In a documentary filmed throughout his 10-day tour of Africa with Meghan last month, the Prince told ITV Tom Bradbury that he and William are now on “different paths” and have “good days” and “bad days”. Many royals fans were saddened by the Prince’s statement, as Harry used to be incredibly close to both his brother and sister-in-law.
A reported feud is said to have begun between the so-called Fab Four since it was announced that the Sussexes were leaving Kensington Palace at the end of 2018 and the split from Kate Middleton and Prince William became more apparent.
According to an unearthed report, though, tensions might have already been present soon after Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
In 2018, the Daily Mail claimed Prince Charles had invited Prince William and Kate to spend time with him at the Castle of Mey, in Scotland, during the summer.
However, the couple reportedly declined the invitation.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did take Prince Charles up on his offer and spent a week with the Prince of Wales in the home belonged to the late Queen Mother in Scotland.
The report reads: “Despite the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke of Cambridge turning their backs on Prince Charles, he thoroughly enjoyed his week spent with his youngest son and wife – which he described to friends as ‘joyous’.
“Prince Charles said he was ‘tickled pink’ when the couple told him they would join him in Scotland, where they reportedly went on coastal walks and went bird-spotting together.”
An insider close to the royals was quoted as saying: “I think it’s fair to say that Meghan has brought Harry and Charles closer.
“Charles is thrilled to have a new daughter-in-law.”
According to the source, Prince Charles recognises that they have both been through family fall-outs in a very public way, with members of Meghan’s family constantly publically criticising her.
The source added: “Because there’s been bad behaviour that’s caused problems in his family, Charles understands how difficult it must be for Meghan.
“And it has endeared her to him even more.”
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was absent during the family bonding time as she was having a “bucket-and-spade” holiday with her own children and grandchildren.
According to a new report by the Vanity Fair, the Duchess of Cornwall has been a “pillar of support” to Harry and Meghan after the fallout from their candid interviews.
