MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry had a fairytale royal wedding in May last year – but both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alongside Prince William, were upset just days before they were due to tie the knot, according to reports.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry married in their stunning royal wedding last year. However, both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly in “floods of tears” at their wedding rehearsal. Prince William was also “upset” on behalf of his brother and new sister-in-law, too, just two days before they tied the knot.

According to a report in The Sun on the day of the royal wedding last year, both Prince Harry and Meghan were “sobbing” and “inflows of tears” over the Duchess’ father’s decision not to attend his daughter’s nuptials.

After becoming embroiled in a series of staged paparazzi photos in the US, after requests from the Meghan and the Palace for the media to leave her father alone, Thomas Markle decided to pull out of walking his daughter down the aisle due to health concerns.

Instead, Meghan entered St George’s Chapel alone, and Prince Charles met her in the sanctuary of the chapel to escort his new daughter-in-law to the altar.

A courtier who was present for the wedding rehearsal told the newspaper: “They were both in tears at what is going on with Meghan’s father in America.

“Prince William was pretty upset as well.”

Both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have pleaded with Mr Markle to attend their big day.

The rehearsal for the big day took place two days before the royal wedding, with both Meghan and Harry spotted smiling together as they were driven along the carriage route in Windsor.

After the rehearsal, the Duke and Duchess joined Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland for afternoon tea with the Queen.

At Windsor Castle later that day, Harry and Meghan joined up with Kate Middleton and William.

Rounding off their busy day, they then joined Prince Charles and Camilla at Clarence House in central London.

Although Prince Harry was beaming as he teamed up with best man William to greet the crowds of well-wishers in Windsor the day before the wedding, the Duke of Sussex also had another tearful moment before the big day.

According to friends of the prince and his former girlfriend Chelsy Davy, he shared a tearful phone-call with Ms Davy in the run up to the royal wedding.

A source told Vanity fair’s Katie Nicholl: “It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on.

“Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding.

“In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.”

Ms Davy was in the chapel for the ceremony, however Ms Nicholl adds: “Though reports claimed Davy was there, a family friend told Vanity Fair that she didn’t get an invite to the party.”
