Roger Federer fans are worried Rafael Nadal will pull out of the ATP Finals after the draw is made so the Swiss star could be in Novak Djokovic’s group.

Rafael Nadal is expected to make his ATP Finals decision today ahead of the 1pm draw.

The Spaniard suffered a stomach injury which forced him to retire from the Paris Masters last weekend.

As the top seed in the ATP Finals, Nadal will be placed in group A and second seed Novak Djokovic in group B.

It means Roger Federer will have to play at least one of his biggest rivals in the round robin ties.

If Nadal pulls out of the tournament before the draw Federer will become the second seed and avoid Djokovic.

However, the Swiss star’s fans are worried Nadal will make his decision later in the day.

“If Nadal withdraws after the ATP Finals draw is made and Federer is in the same group as Djokovic I will be so angry,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

While another added: “Just hope we don’t get two lop-sided groups with Federer/Djokovic in one, and Nadal drawn in the other (and he pulls out – I’m 90% certain he will).”

And a further user tweeted: “Nadal to withdraw in London after the groups has been made, maybe after a match, Djokovic and Federer stuck in the other group.”

One other person wrote: “So if Nadal withdraws Federer will get his puppet Agut in his group?”

Federer won the Swiss Indoors title in the build-up to the ATP Finals.

Triumph in Basel led to the 38-year-old pulling out of the Paris Masters so he is fresh for the season finale.

“I have to pace myself since I want to play as long as possible on the ATP Tour,” Federer said.

“I am sorry for my French fans who I will see next year at Roland Garros.”
