Raheem Sterling’s Liverpool past won’t affect him when Manchester City visit Anfield.

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is determined to “produce” against his former team Liverpool as he is over his Anfield past.

City are set for a critical away clash with the Reds (4.30pm) and will heavily rely on Sterling, who has been in tremendous form this season having already scored seven goals in 10 Premier League matches.

The England international completed a £49million move to the Etihad from Liverpool under acrimonious circumstances in 2015 and admits his first Anfield visit as an opponent was difficult.

However, the star forward insists he has matured and is now solely focused on delivering for his club in today’s Premier League showdown.

Sterling told Sport360: “At first it was hard going back.

“It was weird at first to see yourself in a different shirt and, against a club that’s done so much for you, it’s also emotional.

“But now I have matured past that and feel I have had some good games against them.

“Now I’ve got past that stage. It’s gone, was a little thing, but I’m now fully focused and fully ready. It’s time to go there and produce.

“I see this as a game where you need to simply focus on your individual performances first, and the collective performances, and the rest will take care of itself.

“I think we have had difficult times there as a team, but last season we went there and could have got the win at the end [with the penalty].

“We just need to go there, play confidently, know that they are a good team, but we are also a good team and we will give it everything.”

City will be missing some key players against Liverpool due to injuries.

Ederson was ruled out after suffering a thigh injury on Wednesday against Atalanta in the Champions League.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte remain sidelined as they are still undergoing rehabilitation work.

David Silva is unlikely to feature because of a muscular injury whereas Rodri is considered a doubt due to a hamstring problem.
