Manchester United battled their way past Chelsea and into the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Manchester United beat Chelsea in their Carabao Cup clash at Stamford Bridge with Marcus Rashford scoring the only goal of the game.
Marcus Rashford found the net via a penalty – just days after both he and Anthony Martial had missed from the spot in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Norwich – sending Willy Caballero the other way.
Chelsea levelled through a superb solo goal from Michy Batshuayi but United got their win, with Rashford scoring a stunning free-kick to become the hero of the evening.
Express Sport now rates and slates Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as United continue their revival under the Norweigan with a third win on the trot.
The Argentina international was a calm and assured presence throughout the game.
The United star still leaves much to be desired going forward but impressed, nullifying the threat of Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.
The Sweden international looked exhausted early into the game but was solid in the ball and helped United keep Chelsea at bay.
Skippering United, the England internationap orduced a calming display, easily getting the better of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
The Argentina international was impressive against Liverpool earlier in the month and, against Chelsea, produced another solid performance.
It’s still early into the youngster’s United career but the way he conducted himself with no doubt delight Solskjaer.
Fred didn’t do anything particularly eyecatching but it was another good afternoon for the Brazil international who, finally, is showing signs of consistency.
The United star received a booking early on but was his usual, robust self. Looked imposing in the middle of the park and impressed at both ends of the pitch.
Back in the side, Jesse Lingard’s movement caused Chelsea problems. He’s still not the answer in the false 9 role, however, performing better when he’s not got the ball.
His lightning pace causes even the best defenders problems. Another impressive outing from United’s only attacking summer signing.
Could have shirked the responsbility of taking the penalty but didn’t. Showed true courage and his free-kick late on was absolutely stunning.
