Logan Paul claims sickness took ‘30 to 50 per cent’ out of him in KSI boxing match defeat

Logan Paul has claimed sickness was a huge contributing factor in the YouTuber’s defeat to KSI in Los Angeles, as he woke up ill, and had been sneezing all day long.

Logan Paul blamed his cold for his defeat to KSI on points last night.

The YouTuber revealed that he woke up feeling sick, which ultimately took “30 to 50 per cent” out of his energy levels.

Paul had been sneezing all day leading up to the fight, and admitted that he tried to conserve energy during the bout.

KSI beat Paul in a split points decision after a controversial fight that saw the American docked two points for landing a blow when KSI was already on his way down to the canvas.

“My game plan kind of went out the window,” Paul told BBC Sport after the fight.

“That was the worst I’ve performed in any sparring session I’ve ever had. Ever.

“Can you hear my voice right now? I’m sick – nasally. I woke up sick.

“I’ve been sneezing all day, and I tried to ignore that, but it took, probably, 30 to 50 per cent out of me.

“I don’t know whether I was trying to conserve energy because I thought I was going to die because of my lungs, or I don’t know.”

KSI started the fight better than Paul, who was favourite to win by knockout.

The Brit won the first four rounds, rocking the taller Paul on a number of occasions.

But, Paul landed a heavy uppercut midway through the fight, which sent KSI stumbling to the canvas.

The referee was forced to intervene, however, as Paul appeared to stop KSI’s fall to land one extra punch.

Two points were deducted from his scorecard, which ultimately proved vital.

KSI was subsequently awarded the victory after the fight went the distance.

The judges gave KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, the win by judging the fight 57-54, 56-55, 55-56.
