Lewis Hamilton has won a sixth world title within his grasp but how does his F1 record compare to the legendary Michael Schumacher?

Lewis Hamilton won his sixth world title after coming second at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Mercedes star was overtaken by Valtteri Bottas late on but still clinched a sixth career crown.

“It’s just overwhelming, if I’m really honest,” he told Sky Sports afterwards.

“It was such a tough race today. Yesterday was a really difficult day for us, Valtteri did a fantastic job so huge congratulations to him.

“Today I just wanted to recover and deliver the one-two for the team. I didn’t think the one stop was going to be possible.

“I’m just filled with so much emotion. I have the whole team here, everyone back at the factory, my mum, my dad, my step-mum, my step-dad, my uncle George and aunt from Trinidad and all the family back home.

“It’s an honour to be up here with those greats.”

Hamilton is now a six-time world champion, meaning he is just one behind.
