KSI and Logan Paul face off at the Staples Center, Los Angeles this weekend – but why do the YouTube sensations hate each other?

KSI and Logan Paul will finally slug out their differences in a boxing ring again on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

The pair headline a pay-per-view card at the Staples Center which also includes world title fights featuring Billy Joe Saunders and Devin Haney.

The professional bout, with 10oz gloves and no headguards, is a different prospect from the white-collar encounter the pair had 15 months ago, but how did the rivalry come about?

Express Sport traces the steps of both men and how their feud bubbled into a multi-million pound boxing extravaganza…

By January 2018, both KSI and Logan Paul had amassed tens of millions of subscribers on their YouTube channels.

KSI largely cultivated a teenage-boy following in England borne out of his quirky FIFA videos among other home-life and music content.

Paul, meanwhile, transitioned to the platform from Vine, where he was known for creating funny bitesized clips.

The American hit the mainstream headlines on New Year’s Eve 2017 for all the wrong reasons, however, when he uploaded a video to YouTube which showed deceased people who had hung themselves in an infamous suicide forest in Japan.

Paul received a barrage of hate for the insensitive video with which he struggled to cope.

Two months later, KSI stopped fellow YouTuber and former fan Joe Weller in an amateur boxing event at the Copper Box Arena, winning the inaugural YouTube belt.

After the event he said: “Well, man’s got this belt right now… If any YouTuber wants it, you can come get it. Jake Paul, Logan Paul, any of the Pauls I don’t care.”

KSI’s calling out of the Pauls (Jake being Logan’s slightly less famous brother) seemed to arise because of infamous suicide forest video.

The Pauls claimed to have not heard of KSI or his YouTuber brother, Deji, but nonetheless engaged in a heated war of words with the Englishmen.

Deji’s abuse of Jake made a rivalry in itself and the match-ups headlined a complete YouTube boxing card at the Manchester Arena, despite the Pauls’ desire to have mixed martial arts fights.

The August 25 bout was preceded by a raucous press conference in London which only escalated the feud between the pair, with personal insults aplenty.

When it came to the night of the fight, Logan, the naturally bigger fighter, started brightly with his strong jab and won the first two rounds.

KSI came back stronger, though, and after six rounds the judges called the bout a majority draw.

Immediately after the fight, KSI said: “What a fight. Logan, I think there’s only one thing to do… I think we’ve got to have a rematch.”

Logan agreed and thanked KSI for giving him something to focus on in the aftermath of his suicide forest video.

Although there seemed to be mutual respect between the two men at the time, the embittered relationship has continued in the build-up to the rematch.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the score should finally be settled.
