KSI vs Logan Paul 2: Who won YouTube boxing showpiece?

KSI beat Logan Paul at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles to crown his professional boxing debut with a win.

The Youtube sensations went head-to-head in their highly-anticipated encounter in the early hours of Sunday morning after battling to a draw in Manchester last year, and the fight didn’t disappoint.

The bout pitted the Brit against his American foe as professionals for the first time, and although disjointed, the tug of war delivered.

Logan Paul seemed to be the more composed fighter throughout the six rounds as KSI’s intent to find a knock-out blow allowed the bigger man to land several stinging jabs.

Despite Paul’s ability to evade each KSI haymaker, a pivotal moment in the fourth round handed the underdog the advantage.

Although he did score a brutal knockdown, Paul was adjudged to have punched KSI after he fell to the canvas, which led to referee Jack Reiss instructing each judge to deduct two points.

The two YouTubers have 40 million subscribers combined and both sets of fans made for a raucous atmosphere, but it was to be the visitor who left victorious.

The judges scorecards read 57-54 for KSI, 56-55 for Paul and finally 56-55 for KSI in what could turn out to be one of the biggest boxing events of the year.

Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who had a hand in turning the fight professional, has given his thoughts on the night, and gave a highly positive review.

He told Sky Sports: “That fight is everything great about boxing.

“It was a really good fight. KSI is a little bit wild.

“I thought it was absolutely brilliant. I was surprised it went the distance.

“KSI was gone. He’s lucky Logan hit him in the back of the head.

“He wanted to win so bad though. The determination he showed.

“He came back from being completely finished to win the last round.”

Hearn went on to suggest why he wouldn’t be opposed to organising a third match-up between the pair, which KSI later ruled out.

Hearn said: “If there’s guys out there who can fight, who take it seriously, then, why not?”
