KELVIN FLETCHER has revealed who he would choose as a Strictly Come Dancing partner if he wasn’t partnered with Strictly pro Oti Mabuse. The former Emmerdale actor dropped his bombshell on Instagram after asking his fans for some revealing questions.
Kelvin Fletcher revealed on his Instagram stories who he would choose to be his Strictly Come Dancing dance partner if he hadn’t been paired up with Oti Mabuse on the hit BBC show.
During an “ask me a question” segment a fan pondered: ‘If you weren’t partnered with Oti who would you want to be partnered with?’
And Kelvin said he would like to be partnered with male Strictly pro Johannes Radebe.
Kelvin replied: ‘@johannesradebe’ followed with a 100 percent symbol.
The actor’s choice comes a week after Johannes was knocked off the show along with his celebrity partner, former Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley.
Their exit shocked many fans, with some arguing that they deserved to stay on the show. Johannes and Catherine ended up in the bottom two along side Mike Bushell and his partner Katya Jones, but lost out in a final dance off.
Kelvin’s choice comes after it was widely speculated that this year’s Strictly would have its first same sex couple.
Back in August BBC released a statement saying that they were open to featuring same sex couples, further fuelling the rumours.
The statement said: “Strictly Come Dancing is an inclusive show and we are proud to have featured same-sex dancing amongst the professional dancers in group numbers in previous series.
“We are completely open to the prospect of including same-sex pairings between our celebrities and professional dancers in the future, should the opportunity arise.”
Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood also said he would like to see a same sex couple on Strictly.
He said on a September episode of Lorraine that he would like to see the concept introduced soon on the BBC One hit.
He said: “I think same-sex couples can exist, yes. You only have to decide who is going backwards really.”
“I hope it does happen. In the world of competition, there are same sex couples who do it so it is possible.”
While a celebrity has yet to be paired up with a same sex professional dancer, a same sex dance routine has been featured on the current series.
Sunday’s results episode saw Johannes dance with fellow Strictly professional dancer Graziano di Prima.
Johannes went on to tell Hello! Magazine how he had never felt so “liberated”.
“I’ve never felt so liberated. For the first time in my life, I feel accepted for who I am. That says so much about the people of this country.”
Johannes continued: “To be able to dance with a friend I respect and adore is joyous.
“There’s bromance galore between us, but there were no male and female roles, just free movement.
“It was beautiful, classy and elegant.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 6.50pm.
