MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry joined hundreds of veterans and their families at the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday.
The Field of Remembrance is an event organised every November by the Poppy Factory to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the Armed Forces. After the event, a statement was posted to Meghan and Harry’s Instagram account, detailing how the couple marked the sombre occasion. It noted that the royal couple each planted a Cross of Remembrance, before spending time talking to army veterans and their families
The statement added: “This is the seventh time The Duke has attended the Field of Remembrance – having previously accompanied The Duke of Edinburgh for several years.
“The Duchess of Sussex was grateful to be able to join her husband on this important day and to personally recognise those who have served.”
The post was well received by social media users, racking up over 400,000 likes.
Followers were warm and effusive in their praise of the public spirit demonstrated by the royal couple.
One admirer wrote: ”It is so important to pay tribute to the ones who lost their lives in service, thank you so much for showing respect and spending your own lives to support others!!!
“We need more people like you in this world!!!”
Another commented: ”I like both of them so much more when they focus on helping other people instead of indulging in their own anxieties.
“Work is good for the soul and serving others is a beautiful thing.
“I love watching them show up.
“They have a tremendous impact, probably more than they know.”
Some speculated that Meghan might be expecting a new baby, with one follower writing: “She looks pregnant.”
Another said: “Megan…is there something you want to tell us? Perhaps.”
On Saturday Meghan and Harry will team up with William and Kate, when they attend the annual Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
The couple are then heading into a six-week-break, which will see them travel to the US and spend Thanksgiving with Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland.
A royal insider close to the couple has revealed to OK! magazine that Meghan and Harry are planning their second child and that Meghan intends to give birth in the US, so as to be close to family and friends.
The Duchess is said to have felt “lonely” and “isolated” during her pregnancy with Archie and is now determined not to repeat the experience.
The source said: “Meghan already told pals that when she comes to deliver her next baby, she’d like to do it in LA where she was born and bred.
“She said that being pregnant in the UK without any of her family and friends felt incredibly lonely and uncomfortable for her.
So she’s keen to change that the second time around and would like to buck tradition to ensure she’s happy – although that may ruffle feathers along the way.”
The source added: ”Meghan wants to spend the first three months post-birth at home in LA with Doria and bond with the baby away from prying eyes.
“It’s the place she calls home, after all, which she says is vital for her mental health.”
