Ian Wright: Football ace, 56, is first to land in Australia amid I’m A Celebrity debut

IAN WRIGHT – legendary Arsenal striker – has been rumoured to be one of the contestants to appear on this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and now the former professional footballer has landed in Australia.

Ian Wright, 56, has been tipped as one of the first celebrities to sign to this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! He will reportedly join star’s which include Caitlyn Jenner, 70, Roman Kemp, 26 and Kate Garraway, 52.

The Match Of The Day pundit touched down in Brisbane airport and had previously claimed he was Down Under to do “some training with Robbie Fowler” who now coaches league club Brisbane Roar.

The former professional footballer was photographed pushing a trolley with loaded suitcases but has insisted he is not headed Down Under for the ITV show.

When asked how likely it is that he’d win the competition, Ian told The Sun: “Win what? I don’t know how many other players are in the golf tournament.

“All you can do is play your best and hope that you bring the right stuff on the day.”

He seemingly appears to be following in the footsteps of his pal and I’m A Celebrity winner Harry Redknapp, 56, who was crowned King of the Jungle last year.

The sports pundit has been getting advice from his pal Harry who hinted that Ian might have a bit of a temper, and he’d need to reign it in while in the jungle.

The former West Ham United manager, told the Mirror: “I’d tell him ‘Keep calm, Wright.’

“He’s got a short fuse. I played golf with him the other day and he threw a bit of a wobbler with another player.”

“You have to bite your tongue in the camp. It’s hard.

“You can get tetchy as there’s nothing to do. It gets boring.

“You can get on each other’s nerves. If anyone gets on Wrighty’s nerves, he’ll tell ‘em.”

Ian was first suspected to be in this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity when Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker dropped a series of jungle-related hints during last week’s episode.

Former jungle star Danny has told pal Ian to get himself voted out first so he can enjoy a two-week Australian holiday.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Danny advised: “If you’re going to come out of the Jungle then come out first. You’re going to have the time of your life.

“It’s a sweet gig – and I’ve had some sweet gigs. I’ve been to World Cups and had my life story made into films and stuff.”

Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner has also touched down in Australia – seemingly appearing to confirm the rumours that she is appearing in this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Olympian champion was spotted sporting a white jumper and black trousers as she walked through Brisbane’s arrival lounge.

It comes after Caitlyn admitted that she ‘doesn’t know how the show works’ ahead of her rumoured appearance.

Teasing the I’m A Celebrity rumours, Caitlyn told The Sun: “I am not allowed to talk about this until next week. I am not sure what I can say. I am not allowed to say anything.”

The star was then reportedly wished well during her stint on the show, to which she added: “Thank you. I don’t know how it works!”
