England fans fume at Rugby World Cup referee over penalty decisions for South Africa

England went in at half-time in the Rugby World Cup final losing 12-6 to South Africa.

England fans are convinced South Africa have been given a huge helping hand by referee Rugby World Cup final referee Jerome Garces.

England started the Rugby World Cup final poorly and in frantic fashion, with South Africa winning two early penalties with Handre Pollard converting one.

Then it was a game of back and forth as Owen Farrell and Pollard traded kicks.

But then towards the end of the second half, England players could be seen looking perplexed by a few key decisions from Jerome Garces.

Pollard added six more points through the posts in the final two minutes of the half to give them a huge lead.

And England fans were furious with some questionable calls from the man in the middle.

One fan fumed: “We are getting absolutely smashed by Garces here, the guy is pinging us for stuff he’s making up in his own head, while they can sit there with their hands in the ruck for as long as they like. Joke.”

Another wrote: “Jerome Garces managing to make himself the most important part of a match once again.”

A third posted: “Garces performance bordering the corrupt. Woeful decisions, completely one eyed.”

A fourth said: “Wonder how much South Africa paid Jerome Garces?”
