EMMERDALE resident Jai Sharma has struggled to adjust to living with his son Archie Sharma since the death of his mother Rachel, but it seemed as though steps were finally being made to bring him out of his shell. However, fans were left shocked by the treatment of Archie from another young resident last night.
Emmerdale has seen Archie Sharma (played by Kai Assi) reluctant to speak to his father who has desperately tried to get to learn more about the youngster. Just as things looked to be getting better, as Archie has finally started to open up, things have taken a turn as his new friend Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clark) grows jealous of the attention he is receiving.
Archie Sharma was greeted by his father Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) after his mother Rachel passed away, and refused to speak to Jai for weeks, before someone seemed to get that to change.
As Archie struggled to cope with the change and the sudden loss of his mother, fellow resident Arthur Thomas seemed to be the youngster’s saving grace as he finally got him to talk.
The pair bonded over their love of gaming and Jai and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) were over the moon to see their sons getting on so well.
Archie finally started to speak, which seemed to be down to his new friendship as things looked to be on the up.
However, things took a turn in last night’s episode as it appeared Arthur has grown jealous of the attention that his friend is getting.
In yesterday’s instalment, fans were left shocked as Arthur stomped on a kite that Jai had gifted the pair.
As his mother desperately tried to calm her son down, she asked him: “What’s the matter? You’re lying, you’re rude to me, you’re rude to Jai – what’s going on?”
Her son snapped back, declaring: “I hate him! And I hate Archie and I hate this stupid kite!”
Laurel was left horrified by Arthur’s behaviour as he began to stomp on the kite in rage, as Jai desperately tried to reason with him, saying: “Come on, mate.”
However, this just made things worse, as Arthur snapped: “You’re not my mate! What are you doing with him, mum? I don’t want another dad – I’ve already got one. It’s not my fault he’s dead!”
Fans of the soap were left unimpressed with the youngster’s outburst, taking to Twitter to express their thoughts.
One shocked fan stated: “Arthur, you spoilt little brat. Archie’s a little boy and his mum has JUST died… you don’t see him carrying on like this #Emmerdale.”
Another shared: “‘It’s not my fault he’s dead’ NOT Laurel, Jai or poor little Archie’s either though is it Arthur? #Emmerdale.”
A third tweeted: “Can’t stand Arthur. He’s a liar and it’s worrying what he was doing to Archie. He’s old enough to be called an abuser and it looks like that’s what he was about to start doing #Emmerdale.”
Another noticed that: “Arthur was fine with Jai when he spoilt him until Archie returned and now he’s not centre of attention #Emmerdale.”
Next week things are set to get worse, as Arthur’s continued jealousy leads him to lash out again at the youngster.
As a picnic is arranged to mark Arthur’s father Ashley Thomas’ birthday, Laurel urges Archie to attend with Jai, but Arthur is less than impressed to see the youngster there, and he soon loses his temper, leading him to lash out at Archie.
Jai is left horrified after he finds his son unconscious, and as he and Laurel spot a further marking on Archie, they worry that the incident is not a one off.
It will lead to Jimmy King (Nick Miles) being wrongly accused of child abuse, after Arthur manages to wrongly frame him, leading Laurel and Jai to believe that he caused the injuries.
Jimmy is stunned by the accusation, and insists he had nothing to do with it, but will he listen?
As Arthur looks set to continue to make Archie’s life miserable, will he put him in further danger as Jai is left in the dark about the real reason behind Archie’s injuries?
