The actress has stayed trim over the years and it is clear staying fit is important to her.

Emma has been competing in this year’s series of the reality dance show, Strictly Come Dancing, and has put on an energetic display each week.

Competing on the show is no easy feat and many stars have been known to lose weight while training.

Contestants face a gruelling training programme which is sure to be keeping the EastEnders star fit.

After week four of the programme, training reportedly increases to 10 hours a day seven days a week.

However, Emma is no stranger to intense exercise and has shared her routine in the past.

How does she stay in shape?

Before signing up for the show, Emma used social media to give a glimpse of her active lifestyle.

Earlier this year, she joined her co-stars as they ran the London Marathon and had a gruelling training schedule for this.

In one post shortly before the marathon, she wrote: “Here she is……. Not nervous.. no… not one bit….”

Emma shared a snap of her trainers and detailed the long runs she was doing that would be enough to whip anyone into shape.

She wrote: “Trainers on… 8-9 mile run to try today…”

The soap star has also shared photos of her in the gym and explained she was adding weight training into her routine.

She said: “Reasons to be Happy…. Have the whole gym to yourself… Very wise in my case! @honegym #weightsbeginner”

Emma also used Instagram to explain she changed her diet plan and began focusing on healthy foods.

The actress ditched unhealthy snacks and instead began preparing homemade lunches to power her through training.

As the live shows approached, she shared a picture of a healthy chicken salad.

She wrote: “5 days of healthy packed lunches prepped by me this morning! ALL CHANGE! #bartonsballchange No more cheeky pasties & pork pies! Ready for a busy filming & dancing week!”
