DEATH IN PARADISE season nine is on the horizon and with actor Ardal O’Hanlon making his exit next year, it seems one former EastEnders star will be arriving in Saint Marie to tie in with his departure.
Ardal O’Hanlon, 54, will be bidding farewell to his team during the next season of Death in Paradise as his time on the Caribbean island comes to an end. It’s not yet been confirmed by the BBC drama how the DI will be leaving, but the addition of a former EastEnders actress could have something to do with it.
The leading star who plays Jack announced he would be bowing out of the role he had played for more than three years earlier this year.
During his time on the island of Guadeloupe, the detective has failed to strike up a long-standing romance with any of the other character’s on the show.
However, thing’s could soon change as former soap star Nina Wadia, 50, will be joining the cast when the drama returns in 2020.
Having played the infamous Zainab Masood for over six years, it seems the actress will be swapping the streets of Walford for the beaches of Saint Marie.
Announcing the news on their official Twitter page, the show posted: “Nina Wadia will join Death in Paradise as Anna!
“Will an encounter with D.I Jack Mooney lead to new things on the horizon?” the tweet teased, with a picture of a gleeful Nadia captioning the post.
Could Jack’s exit from the show see him leave the Caribbean to begin a new life away from all the murder mystery with his new love interest?
One fan wrote in response to the speculation: “Is this the lady who will capture Jack’s heart and they will head off into the sunset together.”
Another added: “Something tells me that she will Jack’s heart and head back to London with.”
Whilst a third commented: “I think it’s about time Jack deserves happiness/finds love with another character.
“This could end up being similar to Humphreys’ storyline with Martha. Wouldn’t like to see them kill off Jack in the next series.”
Viewers will have to stayed tuned to how Ardal’s story unfolds, but there’s not only one former EastEnders star making their way to Saint Marie.
Having played cancer patient Daniel Cook over the past few months on the BBC soap, actor Adrian Edmondson, 62, will be ruffling a few feathers.
Earlier today, the show announced the casting addition on the micro-blogging site.
“Adrian Edmondson kicks off our guest cast reveal playing Charles Crabtree!” the post began, before revealing more details about his character.
“Charles witnesses an attack in our first episode of the series but does his story really add up?”
Viewers will have to keep their eye on even more casting news as it seems more guest stars will be announced in the coming days.
Once Ardal leaves the show, he will be replaced by The Royale Family star Ralf Little, 39, who will be playing the new DI.
The actor will be playing DI Neville Parker, with the show teasing more detail about the newcomer on their Twitter page.
“A fish out of water, how will Neville cope when he lands in paradise and what will Harry make of his new housemate?”
