Chelsea have been boosted by the return to training of three key players ahead of their Champions League clash with Ajax at Stamford Bridge tonight (8pm).

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen are all available following injury, with the trio returning to training alongside their team-mates on Monday.

However, it remains to be seen if the Blues manager will risk the trio when Chelsea continue their Champions League campaign against Ajax at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard also revealed that Antonio Rudiger remains sidelined due to a pelvic problem, joining Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marco van Ginkel on the treatment table.

When asked about Kante in his pre-match press conference, Lampard said: “He is in the squad. It looks like the injuries are clearing up. So [he is]available.

“No news on Rudiger.”

The German centre-back was due to see a specialist yesterday but is still some way off full fitness so Kut Zouma and Fikayo Tomori will continue at the heart of defence with Christensen’s return also carefully managed.

Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cesar Azpilicueta are almost certain starters against Ajax but Emerson Palmieri could be rested with Marcos Alonso on hand to deputise.

Jorginho should start in front of the back four while Mateo Kovacic is expected to get the nod once again alongside the Italian.

Mason Mount is favourite to complete the midfield trio but Lampard could throw Ross Barkley back into the starting XI he wants to keep the 20-year-old fresh.

Further forward, rotation could take place with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Pedro both pushing for starts at the expense of Willian and Christian Pulisic.

However, the American winger has scored four goals in his last three appearances so Lampard may be reluctant to halt that momentum.

Tammy Abraham should lead the line once more but Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud offer alternatives from off the bench.
