BUSINESSES are braced for the Autumn Budget when the Chancellor of the Exchequer will set out the Government’s plans for taxation, benefits, spending and forecasts for the economy.

The Herald will once again put the budget in the spotlight when it comes in late October or early November and host the annual budget briefing breakfast supported by Brown Shipley, Campbell Dallas and Wright Johnston & McKenzie LLP the
morning after the chancellor’s announcement.

The event will allow for readers and business leaders to discuss and question the implications for the UK economy for the year ahead.

Against a testing economic background, the challenge is to continue to raise revenue and provide a tax environment in which businesses can flourish.

Delegates will hear from panel members Liz Cameron, CEO & Director, Scottish Chambers and Fraser Campbell, Partner, Campbell Dallas.

Mr Campbell said: “We are delighted once again to support The Herald’s Budget Briefing Breakfast.

“The Budget Briefing is a key event in the diary for business leaders to discuss the impact of the Budget for the year ahead.

“We look forward to sharing insight and advice with local businesses at the breakfast.”

Joining Mr Campbell and Ms Cameron is Grant Johnston, Partner and Head of Wealth Planning, Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP, who said: “The only thing certain about 2019/20 is that we will all experience changes which will affect our business and personal finances.

“We now have a new Prime Minister and possibly Brexit with or without a deal.

“The 2019 Budget will be the first main opportunity the Government will have to set out their view of the future path for the country.”

Other panel members include Roger Clark, Head of Wealth Management, Brown Shipley, and economist Jeremy Peat.

The event will take place in Glasgow from 8am and 10.30am with the date being announced as soon as the budget date has been set.
