Watford have announced the £31 million signing of long-term target Ismaila Sarr from Rennes.
After months of negotiations between the two clubs, the Senegal international has completed his switch to the Premier League.
Sarr began his career at Metz but rose to prominence at Rennes, where he scored 18 goals in 77 matches in his two seasons at the Stade Rennais.
The winger featured five times in Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign this summer.
The arrival of Sarr could complete a savvy transfer window for Watford, who have also added defender Craig Dawson and Danny Welbeck to their squad.
Perhaps more importantly, the Hornets have been able to retain their top talent.
Gerard Deloufeu will remain at Vicarage Road having been linked with a move to AC Milan, while Abdoulaye Doucoure will also stay after the club rejected a £30million bid from Everton.
Javi Gracia’s side are looking to build on an impressive 2018-19 season which saw them finish 11th in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final, which they lost to Manchester City.
