Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil Jones has posted a coy Instagram post about an upcoming ‘exciting’ announcement he is set to release later today.
The 37-year-old dancer, a resident and favourite of the BBC celebrity dance competition, took to Instagram where he teased fans about ‘exciting’ news he is set to make public later today. What is it? Something awesome, to be sure.
Taking to Instagram, the dancer teased: ‘I wanted to make an announcement today but I need to delay It a little bit longer so please just enjoy this cool image for the time being and stay tuned because some exciting news is coming. #fridayfeeling #potd #dancer #pasojacket.’
Fans of the show swarmed to the comments section, wondering if it’s something to do with the show. One ecstatic follower asked: ‘You’re going to have a Strictly partner?’
Another added: ‘We need you with a partner on Strictly!’ whilst a third echoed such sentiments: ‘You better be getting a partner this year!!!!’
Others noticed that his jacket was similar to the one worn by Paul Mercurio in Baz Luhrmann’s 1992 romantic comedy Strictly Ballroom. ‘Very strictly ballroom there. One of my favourite films! Xx,’ one eagle-eyed fan wrote.
There were those who speculated that he and wife Katya Jones could be expecting a baby, and others thought the announcement may have something to do with him going on tour.
Whilst eager fans are hoping the dancer is finally going to be given a celebrity partner, it’s unlikely that this is the announcement.
The celebrity line-up tends to be revealed August onwards.
In an email to Metro.co.uk, Neil’s management confirmed that the announcement “is not related to Strictly in any way”.
Still, it’s almost time for Strictly Come Dancing to return to our TV screens for the 2019 series and the judges have already been revealed. Head judge Shirley Ballas will return for a third series, along with Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.
Meanwhile, Motsi Mabuse, sister of Strictly pro Oti Mabuse, is the new girl on the block, replacing Dame Darcey Bussell.
