Liam Payne has recruited Ed Sheeran for comeback single Stack It Up as he prepares to make his big return, according to reports.
It’s been two years since Liam blessed our ears with his sweet banger Strip That Down but if speculation is anything to go by he’s buddied up with Ed once again.
The One Direction star’s aforementioned hit debut solo single was co-written by Ed alongside Liam and in the name alone (gotta love those three syllables demanding *something*) you can tell there are similarities abound.
The song stormed the charts and its music video has over 300million views on YouTube, so can hardly blame the fellas for wanting to get back into the studio and replicate the goodness.
Strip That Down was produced by Steve Mac, and now, according to Daily Star Online, the award-winning pair has been back in the studio working on the upcoming single with 25-year-old Liam.
Which, again, if you’re picking up what the online pundits are putting down, is going to be released later this month.
Well, this is just exciting news all around and let’s keep those fingers crossed they’re on the money, eh?
A source claimed: ‘Liam and Ed have teamed up again on his new song after the success of Strip That Down, it’s called Stack It Up.’
They added: ‘The video was shot in June and fans will be able to hear it by the end of August.’
While his debut solo hit (from his First Time EP) starred the likes of Migos rapper Quavo, Stack It Up will apparently see Liam joined by another US rapper, A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
Side note: you’ve got Strip That Down stuck in your head again right now, don’t you? No? Just us?
With new music often comes new tour too, and there’s chatter to go with Stack It Up Liam will announce a fresh tour and a debut solo album in the pipeline, after his immediate chart success as a solo star.
It’ll be Liam’s first solo single since 2018’s First Time, recorded with French Montana.
It comes nine years after One Direction’s debut, with Liam celebrating the tracks each member has made since they took their hiatus in 2016.
Late last month Liam told fans: ‘9 years… Amazing to look back at all the memories and even now you got us trending worldwide after 9 years. You truly are the best fans in the world #9YearsOfOneDirection.’
He’s not the only band member with his eyes on the solo prize, as Niall Horan recently announced he too was pushing out fresh tunes.
Guess summer just gets those songwriting juices flowing, we suppose.
Slow Hands crooner Niall made his mighty single announcement at the Capitol Congress 2019 at his label Capitol Records, where he performed Nice To Meet Ya.
If you’re into ‘90s/00s trippy rock vibes with a bit of soul and dance’ that’s just what Billboard described it as and, sure, there’s a lot to unpack there but it sounds like a goer.
The 25-year-old singer is also releasing a ballad called Put A Little Love On Me, produced by Adele and Liam Gallagher producer Greg Kurstin.
Some big names are swirling around this article.
