Everton are set to bid £60m for Wilfried Zaha with talks already ongoing with the Crystal Palace star.
Zaha has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer after declaring he wants a new challenge away from Selhurst Park and is keen to play in the Champions League.
No Champions League club has made a move for the 26-year-old, but Arsenal have seen a bid of around £40m turned down by the Eagles.
Now Everton are looking to beat the Gunners in the race to sign the forward, by offering £60m for his services, according to Sky Sports.
Palace reportedly wanted closer to £80m for their star player, so it is yet to be seen whether the Toffees will convince them to sell with their bid.
Eagles boss Roy Hodgson described Arsenal’s £40m bid as ‘nowhere near’ the club’s valuation of the player.
Despite not being in the Champions League and not fulfilling Zaha’s preference to stay in London, the Ivory Coast international is thought to be keen on a switch to Goodison Park and will push for the move.
Chelsea have also reportedly entered the race for Zaha although, due to their two-window transfer ban, any deal would not be completed till next summer.
The Blues may be a more attractive option for the winger, but his desire to leave Crystal Palace could see him take the option to move to Everton ahead of the upcoming season.
‘I have to experience the Champions League. I just need the opportunity, that’s it. And I’ll do the rest,’ Zaha said in April.
‘I’m too ambitious. And not ambitious just to play for a top club, but to win things at club level and with the Ivory Coast.
‘For me to be better, to achieve what I know I am capable of, I have to aim to play at the very highest level, to win trophies.
‘I’m blessed to have come this far in my playing career. But I feel like there is so much more I have to offer.’
