Eddie Hearn dismisses Deontay Wilder’s scathing attacking on Dillian Whyte

Eddie Hearn dismissed Deontay Wilder’s scathing criticism of Dillian Whyte amid a mounting doping scandal surrounding the British heavyweight.

WBC champion Wilder posted a lengthy statement on Whyte’s failed drug test just a few hours after the news broke, slamming Hearn and the Bodysnatcher.

While Hearn admitted on Thursday Whyte had failed a UK Anti-Doping drug test, the Matchroom boss called for calm.

‘There’s a lot of people with agendas,’ Hearn told media when asked about Wilder’s comments.

‘There’s a lot I can say and can’t say, legally, on this situation. What I can say is both guys were tested by VADA and UKAD in the build-up to this fight.

‘Both fighters were cleared by them and the Board to take part in this fight.

‘There was a hearing prior to this fight, where Dillian Whyte was asked to provide information. That hearing took part with an independent panel and he was cleared to fight.

‘As far as I’m concerned as a promoter, that’s it.’

Further reports claim Whyte tested positive for trace amounts of epimethandienone and hydroxymethandienone, two metabolites of the banned drug Dianabol, but Hearn has insisted the facts are yet to be revealed to the public.

Hearn has repeatedly stated he believes fighters found guilty of doping should be banned for life and has already backed Whyte previously.

Whyte served a two-year ban earlier in his pro career, but has always insisted he was innocent of intentionally taking a performance-enhancing drug.

Wilder opened fire on Whyte because the Brit is the mandatory challenger to his WBC belt. The victory over Oscar Rivas assured Whyte of a crack at Wilder.
