Following his efforts to liaise with Swedish authorities to free A$AP Rocky, President Donald Trump has hit out at the country’s government for their lack of help in getting the rapper home.
Donald had promised in a press conference last week that he would do whatever it takes to get the rapper home as soon as possible, after he was arrested following a fight over some headphones at the start of the month.
A$AP had to cancel a number of concerts after being taken into custody on 3 July, and is still being held by Swedish police over the incident, in what has been claimed to be ‘inhumane conditions’.
And following the star being officially charged with assault, Donald took to Twitter to slam the Swedish authorities for not working faster to free the rapper.
He posted: ‘Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States.
‘I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky.’
He then added: ‘Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! #FreeRocky.’
A$AP has been held by police since the start of the month, after they were granted permission to keep him longer pending further inquiries into the incident.
The rapper had released videos of the altercation on his Instagram account which appear to show him and his team being followed and harassed by two men, as A$AP allegedly attempted to diffuse the situation before it escalated.
A$AP was officially charged with assault this week, and will remain in jail until his trial.
