At the moment, Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) is playing a seriously dangerous game in Coronation Street as he juggles his doiuble life with Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and his pregnant secret lover Vicky Jeffries (Kerri Quinn). But, with both Kym and Tristan set for dramatic exits, it’s only a matter of time before anything falls apart around him.
Revealing that Vicky’s baby is set to be a Christmas baby, Kerri appeared to indicate that the story may come to a head around then – and she added that it would be an interesting twist if Michelle and Vicky were to team up and deal with cheating Robert together.
She told Metro.co.uk: ‘Vicky and Michelle are both quite strong fiery women, I would be terrified if I was Robert, but I would also be really sorry for him – just come clean! Vicky’s pregnant so I suppose killing each other’s not really an option but we still don’t know! We’re hearing stories but nothing set in stone, so I don’t know how it’s going to play out but I’m sure they will eventually find out about each other. It would be lovely if they were to team up.
‘I think you get the impression that Vicky’s had it tough, she’s been flying solo for a bit and you find that Jed left her for someone else, so I think if she has sniff of that, she would be on that and I think she’d do the right thing by Michelle. That’s my take. I don’t think it should be that the two of them are ripping each others’ heads off.
‘I think it’s more interesting to see a common ground and that would work better for my character because then you will see a different side of Vicky if she is trying to do the right thing.’
Kerri confirmed that she is due to exit at the end of the storyline too – but can see that there would be ways for Vicky to stick around, especially as she is going to be the mother of Robert’s baby.
She smiled: ‘I think the difficulty there is how, because she has no link to the street. Nobody really likes her, she has no friends, so it’s hard, how you do it. I think that’s maybe why this storyline, when you see someone in a vulnerable position and being screwed over by Robert, it does leave it open to maybe people will have a bit more empathy with her. Yeah you were a bit of an eejit when you came in, but again, that’s it being justified. So yeah, i would like to think they would bring her in for a longer period.
‘I’m wondering, this is me thinking out loud, if she does have Robert’s baby, what link does she have to the bistro. because surely her child would have some rights or entitlement? My initial thought was if I was to stay, which i’d love to, then how can we link her to the Street and obviously that’s me solving Iain’s problems for him!
‘I was curious what happens to the bistro if they both go. But I think the factory is more interesting because you do need someone there to just to be that annoying person, to just kinda stir it up and she definitely does have that potential!’
