12 Chinese tourists injured in car accident in Morocco’s Fez


RABAT, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) — Altogether 12 Chinese tourists were injured Friday morning in a car accident in Morocco’s northern city of Fez, said Chinese Embassy in Morocco.

Around 9:00 a.m. (0800 GMT), a van rushed into a sidewalk of the old city of Fez, injuring 12 Chinese tourists who were taking photos, including two in severe condition. All the injured have been taken to a local hospital in Fez.

According to Moroccan police, the van was parked on a slope. A 15-year-old Moroccan youth started the van without the owner’s consent, causing the vehicle to rush into the sidewalk.

Chinese ambassador to Morocco Li Li said that an official of the embassy has visited the injured and is helping deal with the incident.
