Where Man Utd target Bruno Fernandes sits on list of transfer priorities

MANCHESTER UNITED are keen on Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes – but he’s not their No.1 transfer target.

Manchester United are running out of time to get deals done as the clock ticks down to deadline at 5pm on August 8.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dan James have signed for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he wants more new faces on board.

Harry Maguire is wanted to shore up the defence, and a central midfielder is on the shopping list too.

Starsport understand Portuguese ace Fernandes is liked by Solskjaer and on their radar – however it appears he’s not their main transfer target.

Sky Sports reporter Darmesh Sheth issued an update on the Fernandes saga on the latest episode of the Transfer Talk podcast.

He said: “Bruno Fernandes has expressed his desire to play in England.

“We understand United are keen on bringing Fernandes to the club.

“Speaking to reporters before the Sporting Lisbon squad headed to New York, this is what Fernandes said: ‘Will this be my last match for Sporting? I don’t know. It’s the coach who decides. I told him I’d like to play in England. The only thing I need to do now is catch the plane so I don’t miss it’.

“”

“It should be noted that Ed Woodward is not joining Manchester United’s pre-season tour.

“We understand he believes staying in the UK is important to conduct transfer business.

“Just on the Bruno Fernandes situation, it should be said here that this one is being driven more from the Sporting Lisbon end, rather than the Manchester United end.

“Yes United are interested. Yes United are keen. But then we’re told Bruno Fernandes is not top of their target list, or their priority list just at the moment.

“But the Sporting Lisbon president has put three factors together and though this is the optimum time to sell.

“He’s 24-years-old, that’s a good age if United wanted a re-sale they’d get a good (price), he’s just had the season of life scoring 32 goals in 50 games and the fact Manchester United are after a player means the price will always go up.

“And now you hear Bruno Fernandes making it clear he wants to play in England.

“So all of the big noises about a potential transfer for Bruno Fernandes are coming from the Sporting Lisbon side.

“Manchester United it seems are relaxed about the situation. Yes they’re keen, but he’s not the priority just now.”

Starsport understand Sean Longstaff is wanted by United boss Solskjaer.

He’s a big fan on the Newcastle star, but the Toon are demanding mega money for his signature.
