What Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told Man Utd target Bruno Fernandes after Sporting draw

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly complimented Bruno Fernandes after they drew with Sporting Lisbon.

Liverpool and the Portuguese outfit went head to head in the USA earlier this week as Fernandes stole the show by netting in the 2-2 draw.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer with Manchester United the frontrunners for his signature.

Liverpool have also expressed interest but the Reds are unlikely to splash the cash on a big name.

After the 2-2 draw with Liverpool, Klopp was seen talking with Fernandes.

That instantly prompted Reds fans to speculate the German boss could have been trying to convince Fernandes into choosing Anfield over Old Trafford.

But Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claim Klopp in fact was just complimenting his performance.

“Good game. Congratulations on showing off. You’re a top player!,” Klopp reportedly told Fernandes.

Fernandes was also the topic of discussion in Klopp’s post match press conference and he admitted he hoped the Portugal international would not be joining rivals United.

Klopp said: “If he [joins Manchester United]then we will face him.

“He’s obviously a really good player.

“They have already a few really good players, so that will probably make them stronger.

“It’s not nice, but [United’s transfer dealings are] not our cup of tea, to be honest.”

United have until August 8 to finalise a deal with Sporting for Fernandes.
