THE “MONSTER” father of an England footy legend has been caged for 20 years for raping young children and women.

The 79-year-old man was convicted of horrifying sexual abuse against youngsters and women in the 1970s and 80s, The Sun reported.

A family member said: “We think he abused others. He was a monster.”

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, began assaulting one girl from when she was just six and continued into adulthood.

The former London Tube worker, who lived in Surrey, attacked two other girls under 16 for years. He was arrested in 2017.

The insider said: “One victim went to the cops but was waved away. No one believed her.

“Eventually another was brave enough to step forward and tell the truth about this evil man.

“We are certain that there are more who have not spoken out.

“I feel sick to think I used to sit on his knee as a youngster. I was lucky.

“He’s ruined so many lives and the family has been rocked by this ordeal but at least he got what he deserves at last and will rot behind bars.”

The man was convicted of four rapes, two attempted rapes, four indecent assaults and a serious sexual assault.

Judge Elizabeth Smaller ordered the jury to clear him of one indecent assault at Croydon Crown Court.

His son, who had a long Premier League career, did not comment.
