A MASSIVE powercut has hit major cities in the UK including London, Manchester and Newcastle, wiping out train services and traffic lights.
A powercut is believed to have left major cities in the UK in complete darkness.
A National Grid spokesman said: “We’re aware of a power cut affecting a large area of London and South East.
“We believe this is due to a failure to National Grid’s network, which is affecting our customers.”
Sets of traffic lights in London have stopped working, with police officers being deployed at junctions.
King’s Cross station in the capital has also been closed due to overcrowding caused by the outage.
Thameslink also confirmed all of their services could be affected.
Great Northern also confirmed their trains are at a standstill.
Furious Brits vented about being left without any power.
One joked: “Stuck on a train into London because of the power cut. It’s been almost 15 minutes now.
“Some people are screaming, some are writing their wills and many have started eating each other just to stay alive. We can’t cope. Please send help.”
Another added: “The UK is broken, London specificallu.”
Referencing Shaun of the Dead, one joked: “UK you know what needs to be done. To the Winchester!!!!!”
While one added: “Practice for the apocalypse when we crash out of the EU with no deal.”
Others claimed the powercut was due to a cyber attack, or no deal Brexit.
Police officers could be forced to man junctions where the power has knocked out traffic lights.
British Transport cops are assisting at train stations after power cuts caused widespread disruption.
The force tweeted: “We currently have BTP officers assisting at several stations owing to current disruption caused by power issues.”
