A CRUISE ship crewman was filmed waving with a giant foam hand as passengers who missed the boat watch it sail away.
Footage posted online shows the Royal Caribbean ship Freedom of the Seas set sail from the Caribbean island of St Maarten.
The video features two distraught latecomers being left stranded on the dock as the massive cruise liner pulls away.
But the unsympathetic person filming the helpless pair from a neighbouring boat shouts: “Unlucky for these two, they’ve missed it.”
When the camera pans upwards, a member of the ship’s crew can be seen on the decking of one of the balconies waving the seemingly homemade prop.
It has the words “bye” written across it.
Many viewers believed the crewman was waving at the stranded pair, but a Royal Caribbean spokeswoman has since said he was waving at another ship.
She said: “We regret the inconvenience our guests experienced due to the late return to the pier.
“Guests are encouraged to be back by all-aboard time.
“Departure times are routinely announced onboard, posted in shipboard newsletters and at gangways to keep our guests informed at all ports of call.”
Last week it was revealed by a former ship worker that cruises are a hotbed for sex, violence and boozing.
It’s not the first time passengers have been left stranded.
One couple arrived 45 minutes late for their cruise departure.
