CHRISTIAN PULISIC must grab any opportunities that come his way with both hands to ensure he gets his Chelsea career off to a flying start.
That’s according to former Arsenal midfielder Stuart Robson, who issued the warning to Pulisic as the star closes in on his competitive Blues debut.
The USA international was signed from Borussia Dortmund in January but loaned back to the Bundesliga side for the second half of the season.
With Chelsea now prevented from signing any new players due to their transfer ban, Pulisic may well have a large role to play this year.
But his first challenge will be proving to new boss Frank Lampard that he is worth a starting berth in his team.
The 20-year-old often found himself consigned to the bench during Dortmund’s failed title tilt last term.
Pulisic made just 20 Bundesliga appearances in all under Lucien Favre in the 2018/19 campaign, scoring four goals in the process.
But Robson believes the £58m signing can usurp the likes of Pedro and Willian to make himself a permanent fixture in Lampard’s plans this season.
“I hope [Pulisic] gets a chance,” Robson said.
“I hope he plays in one of those wide areas where he can run at people and do all the things [he can do].
“Willian’s been in and out the side, Willian pleases some managers, doesn’t please everybody.
“Pedro likewise has been in and out of the side.
“When he’s playing well he’s an excellent player but doesn’t always play well.
“So Pulisic may just get that opportunity but he’s got to take it when he gets it.”
The Blues overcame Barcelona 2-1 yesterday, thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley.
Chelsea take on Reading on Sunday before they clash with RB Leipzig the following Wednesday.
