Parliament must subpoena reluctant state capture witnesses: DA

JOHANNESBURG – The DA wants Parliament to subpoena witnesses who are refusing to appear before a portfolio committee inquiry into state capture.

This comes after confirmation that neither the Guptas nor former SAA board chair Dudu Myeni will appear before the committee on Tuesday.

According to the DA, Myeni claims she is sick, but has failed to produce a doctor’s note.

The Gupta brothers were due to appear before the committee after their lawyer previously indicated they were prepared to testify.

But he now says they are out of the country, and there’s no indication of when or if they will be back.
