Venezuela: Two police officers, civilian arrested for killing
10/09/2010CARACAS, Venezuela – Two police officers and a civilian have been apprehended as suspects in connection with the killing of Emiliano Astore, an Italian who was found dead on his sailboat last month, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Daniel Fernández and Fidel Millán, who are members of the Instituto Neoespartano de Policía (Inepol) and boat operator Pablo González have been arrested for the Aug. 27 killing. Fernández and Millán are suspected in the shooting of Astore, 36, and González is suspected of transporting the two in a boat, according to a statement by the Attorney General’s Office. Wilfredo Salazar, who also is a Nueva Esparta police officer, has been linked to the crime after officials discovered during a search of his residence “two portable computers, which were the property of the Italian tourist,” according to the statement.
